SWANVILLE, Maine – Spectrum today announced the completion of a $3 million network upgrade and launch of Spectrum’s high-speed broadband to more than 1,600 area homes and small businesses in Etna, Newburgh and Swanville, Maine.

Sen. Susan Collins; Swanville Select Board Member Fred Black; Paul Cancienne, Group Vice President, Legislative Affairs, Charter Communications; Melinda Kinney, Sr. Director, New England, State Government Affairs, Charter Communications; and Jason Crosby, Director Field Operations, Charter Communications provided remarks at the event, which took place at the Swanville Town Hall. Charter Communications offers services under the Spectrum brand.

“Access to high-speed Internet is critical to the vitality of rural communities, which is why I have long championed expanding access to broadband across Maine,” said Sen. Collins. “From spurring job creation to supporting telemedicine and education, the Internet unlocks almost endless benefits and possibilities. Spectrum’s commitment to extend its high-speed network to underserved areas of Maine will help bridge the digital divide and ensure that families have a reliable connection to their loved ones, co-workers, schools and medical services.”

Spectrum’s high-bandwidth, low-latency network means local residents now have access to Spectrum Internet Gig, with download speeds of 1 Gbps, throughout the buildout area. Spectrum Internet® also offers starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with Spectrum Internet Ultra providing download speeds of 500 Mbps. All Spectrum Internet plans have no modem fees, data caps or contracts, and qualifying households can use Affordable Connectivity Plan credits on any Spectrum Internet plan. For small and medium-sized businesses, Spectrum Business Internet Gig offers gigabit downloads, with 300 Mbps and 600 Mbps options also available.

“We have a consistent track record of investing in our network to provide high-value broadband, TV, mobile and voice services,” said Schonewolf. “We are now delivering superior connectivity to residents and businesses in Etna, Newburgh and Swanville at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”

Charter serves over 448,000 customers in 293 communities, and employs nearly 700 Mainers across the state. Last year, we invested more than $55 million in technology and infrastructure in Maine, and expanded the reach of our network to an additional 7,000 homes and businesses.

Spectrum Internet has been consecutively ranked as one of the best internet service providers by U.S. News & World Report, and also earned the highest rating among the Best Internet Service Providers for Rural Areas. Spectrum Internet also exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in December 2021.

Spectrum Mobile, available exclusively to Spectrum Internet customers, combines the fastest overall speeds* with the best devices and a choice of Unlimited or By the Gig data plans. Spectrum Mobile provides customers the highest-quality experience, including access to nationwide 5G, at great value (two or more lines starting at $29.99 a month, saving customers up to $1,000 a year**).

Spectrum TV® brings extensive programming lineups to the area, with more than 200 HD channels and access to 85,000 On Demand movies and shows. Using the Spectrum TV App, viewers can stream content across a growing number of platforms, including iOS and Android mobile devices, Xbox One, Kindle Fire, Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, XClass TVs and PCs. Spectrum TV customers also have exclusive access to Spectrum Originals, a premier destination for premium original series, available on-demand and ad-free.
