DAYTON, Ohio — Spectrum announced today the completion of the initial Clark County Broadband Expansion Project, which was made possible through the CARES Act. This network expansion project will bring broadband and advanced Spectrum services to the rural and previously unserved parts of New Carlisle, South Charleston, and South Vienna. The nearly $3 million project includes 61 miles of new infrastructure bringing ultra-fast broadband service to more than 415 homes that previously did not have service. The announcement was made at a ribbon-cutting event in South Vienna, Ohio. Through the Ohio Residential Broadband Grant Program, Spectrum will build to an additional 1,165 underserved or unserved addresses.

Spectrum Internet Gig, with download speeds of 1 Gbps, is now available throughout the buildout area. Spectrum Internet offers starting speeds of 300 Mbps, with Spectrum Internet Ultra providing download speeds of 500 Mbps. For small and medium-sized businesses, Spectrum Business Internet offers download speeds of 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps. Local residents and business owners should visit spectrumruralexpansion.com to learn more about when their home or business may be able to receive Spectrum services.

“Spectrum is making a multiyear investment to extend gigabit broadband networks to unserved communities across America,” said Jeff Gehrig, Regional Vice President. “Our commitment is making it possible to deliver the high-value broadband, mobile, TV and voice services now available in Clark County. We are providing superior connectivity to local residents and small businesses at highly competitive prices, backed by an organization committed to craftsmanship and service.”

Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the Best Internet Service Provider for Rural Areas in its 2021-22 ratings, Spectrum Internet also exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report” issued in December 2021. And all Spectrum Internet plans have no data caps, modem fees or contracts.

Clark County Commissioner Melanie Flax Wilt says today’s announcement is an important step in building Clark County’s digital divide.

“Rural residents are workers, students, businesses and consumers, and technology is a great equalizer that will allow our rural communities to prosper. Thanks to Charter’s infrastructure buildout across Clark County, hundreds of families now have access to high-speed internet at home,” Commissioner Wilt said.
