Stamford, CT. – Charter Communications, Inc. today announced its signature philanthropic initiative, Spectrum Housing Assist, a program that seeks to ensure more Americans live in safe and healthy homes, has surpassed its original goal of improving 25,000 homes. As of today, Spectrum Housing Assist has improved 25,000 homes with the help of 5,457 Spectrum employee volunteers for a total of 34,163 volunteer hours impacting the lives of thousands of community residents.

“As we celebrate 25,000 homes improved, we would like to thank the hundreds of community and employee volunteers who have generously devoted countless hours to help us build a better future for the communities we serve,” said said Rahman Khan, Vice President, Community Impact for Charter Communications. “Although we are proud of this monumental achievement, we look forward to our renewed commitment of 50,000 homes improved, which will result in more families being helped, more opportunities for employees to give back, and a closer connection between those communities and Charter.”

Spectrum Housing Assist, the company’s first and largest philanthropic initiative, was launched in 2014 with a focus on housing and community improvement. The program partners with nonprofit organizations and engages employee and community volunteers in order to provide critical home repairs across the United States.

Charter has since expanded its community-based philanthropic focus by launching an additional program, Spectrum Digital Education, an initiative designed to support nonprofit organizations that educate community members on the benefits of broadband and how to use it to improve their lives. Backed by a $1 million commitment, Spectrum Digital Education provides digital education in Charter communities through financial grants, PSAs, workshops and webinars to local nonprofit organizations.
